All That Sparkles...
By S. Miranthi Dole

All that sparkles may not be Gold – but in this line of dresses, YOU of all things are guaranteed to sparkle whatever the time or occasion!
We’ve seen many takes on this trend in the past, from loud gold sequins to a sea of confusing sequins. Not the very best in tastes. But these dresses on the other hand take on the sequined dress trend and turn it in to something less hazardous on the eyes and great looking on your figure! Depending on how much sparkles you can take, the trend can be toned down or tuned up to suit your fancy. Whatever you opt to try out this season; take special care with your accessories and jewellery. Keep everything else to a minimum and let your dress be the focal point and cynosure of all attention. Whilst keeping jewellery to a minimum, do up your makeup very subtly and get the au natural look – that is great foundation for clear healthy skin and nude lips with your eyes either in a smokey haze or highlighted in toned colors of your dress. Remember if you are heavier set then opting for a strapless dress isn’t the most flattering option, especially with extra flesh getting trapped around the top half of the dress.

Keep your shoes simple – go for plain colors in matching colors such as silver, dull gold or black – don’t try to contrast your shoes and accessories with your dress – it may be way too much to take in for the overall look. Keep your hair swept away from your face, either tied neatly in a bun or high in a sleek ponytail. If you’re more comfortable with your hair down, have it done in loose big curls that cascade around your shoulders. If you have big bushy hair, it’s best to have it tamed. Not all of us are super models and can get away with it. If you want to, you can wear black stockings to give the overall look an extra sense of mystery. The stockings come in handy especially if you aren’t too comfortable with the length of the skirt and would like to be a bit modest in your style escapade.

DO NOT and I repeat do not try out your glitter makeup or body glitter with this kind of dress – going in for the overkill is not an option. Remember whilst the dress is shimmery and sparkly – all other things have got to be toned down and neutral. You don’t want to be making a spectacle of yourself by muddling up a sea of color in one outfit. Judge for yourself what really works well from these references and step out and shine!
